Science at Our School
At our school, we aim to inspire curiosity and a lifelong love of science by providing a rich and engaging curriculum. Our science teaching focuses on developing children’s substantive knowledge alongside the key skills of working scientifically, ensuring pupils understand scientific concepts as well as how science is used in the real world.
We encourage children to ask thoughtful questions about the world around them and to develop the skills needed to answer these questions through structured scientific enquiries. Through practical investigations, experiments, and observations, pupils learn how to plan enquiries, make predictions, measure accurately, record results, and draw conclusions based on evidence.
Children are provided with purposeful, real-world experiences that help them make meaningful connections between classroom learning and everyday life. These experiences support critical thinking, collaboration, and the confident use of scientific vocabulary.
Our carefully sequenced curriculum allows pupils to revisit and deepen their understanding of key scientific ideas over time. By nurturing curiosity and enquiry, we aim for every child to leave our school as a confident, inquisitive learner who understands the relevance of science in the world around them and is well prepared for future scientific learning.
